Some pics to whet appetites
These pics are linked from www.ozbc.net

Looks like there should be something in the left side of the pic here. And maybe the arete on the right side of the picture that comes into the sunlight two-thirds of the way up.

Line in the centre right of the pic. Maybe couloir, then ridge?
And then, from a pic taken a few seasons ago, Elephant Buttress at Blue Lake. Dihedral corner (goes at 13 in summer), centre right, and Pete's Route (? - about 10?), centre left (especially the right hand wall) look attractive.

Welcome to Crystal Meet 2008 - early September 2008
Well it's coming up to that time of year again. We start to get the frosts, then the glazed, hopeful eyes. We let the Queen's Birthday weekend excite us, even though there's only a patch of man-made snow stuck to Front Valley.
But later on the in season, maybe this will be a good year.
I'm planning a few trips down there, both through ClubHocking, and a few solo/smal group things planned (1st 2 weeks of July, touring from GPS northwards).
But I'm thinking about trying to organise a bit of a get-together for approx one week in early September, camping around Soil Con Creek, and playing at Blue Lake, but also heading over to see if any lines have formed up on Watson's Crags.
I intend to head out there the week before to do some scouting of lines, and then meet up with folks for a week of fun. I will probably take the oversnow to Charlotte's Pass and then pull my sled up for crystal meet itself to take some of the extra things along.
Who's interested? People could come out intending to ski, intending to climb, come for a week, come for a long weekend.
Other ideas I have for the trip:
Informal introduction to BC avy awareness (I could run a workshop on this)
Snow crystal science intro (for the geeks like me...)
I would prefer this to be a group of friends, not just random people, so let's keep it reasonably in-house.
The Blog can be used as an organisational tool (let's avoid phone numbers and email addresses on it) for who, when, and where.
cheers,
owain.
